What Makes a Trained Leader?
Gulf Stream Council requires the following training by
all registered adults:
"This is Scouting" and "Youth Protection Training".
Current registered leaders - submit proof of training (online certificates) to your
appropriate Committee Chair. Youth protection training
must be updated every two years and is a requirement
for annual reregistration..
New unregistered adult - attached your online training
certificates to your registration application before submitting.
Merit Badge Couselors must complete
Youth Protection Training bi-annually.
ONLINE TRAINING IS AVAILABLE FOR MANY BASIC TRAINING CLASSES. YOUTH PROTECTION AND "THIS IS SCOUTING" COMPLETION CERTIFICATES MUST BE ATTACHED TO NEW ADULT LEADER APPLICATIONS BEFORE SUBMITTING.
If you are a new unregistered adult, create an account without a member ID to take your initial required training. After your registration is processed, return to www.myscouting.org, log in, and update your profile with the "Gulf Stream Council" and your membership ID number.
The following comprises Basic Adult Training and
is highly recommended for all leaders.
- Cub Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed Cub Scout Fast Start, This is Scouting, Cub Scout Leader Specific training for their position, and Youth Protection Training.
- Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed Boy Scout Fast Start, This is Scouting, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS) and Youth Protection Training.
- Troop committee members are considered trained when they have completed Boy Scout Fast Start, This is Scouting, Troop Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific training, and Youth Protection Training.
- Varsity Scout leaders and assistants are considered trained when they have completed Varsity Fast Scout, This is Scouting, Varsity Scout Leader Specific Training, Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS), and Youth Protection Training.
- Venturing Crew Advisors, Assistant Advisors, and Crew Committee Members are considered trained when they have completed Venturing Fast Start, This is Scouting, Venturing Leader Specific Training, and Youth Protection Training.
